BATAVIA Former Batavia Middle School teacher sentenced in sex abuse investigation

A former City of Batavia middle school teacher was sentenced in front of City Court Judge Robert Balbick Wednesday morning.

Anthony Antinore, 51, of Churchville, was sentenced to 60 days in the Genesee County Jail and three years probation after pleading guilty to 2nd degree attempted disseminating of indecent material to a minor, a misdemeanor.

Antinore accepted a plea deal in September after the victim decided they did not want to be identified publicly.

Antinore was forced to surrender his NYS teaching license and will not be able to apply again as part of the plea agreement.

The incidents occurred between 2011-2014.

He was originally charged with felony disseminating indecent material to a minor after an investigation by the City of Batavia Police.

Antinore, while employed by the City of Batavia School District as a middle school teacher, allegedly had the victim send explicit photographs of himself to Antinore.

In City Court Wednesday, Antinore’s Attorney, Randolph Meyer, told the Judge that there was no physical contact.

Judge Balbick however disagreed. The victim admitted to masturbating the defendant and exchanging pictures of his penis while watching pornography. “There was physical contact,” Balbick said.

As part of his probation, Antinore cannot own a device with internet capabilities. He also cannot use a computer with internet services.

Even though Antinore will not have to register as a sex offender, he will have to enter a sex offender treatment program as part of the terms of probation.

Meyer told the court his client will be looking for employment since he had to surrender his teaching license and that will be difficult without internet access.

Balbick disagreed with Meyer and then told Antinore that what he did was inexcusable as a teacher.

“I’ve got to send you a message,” Balbick said
