GENESEE COUNTY/LeRoy man indicted on new charges in Christmas Eve incident


On December 24, 2016, Matthew A. McCracken, 33, of 10 Clay street, LeRoy was arrested after he threatened to kill neighboring residents of an upper apartment on Clay street.
 
McCracken allegedly threatened to injure and kill his neighbor and then burned the door frame of his neighbor’s apartment with a blow torch.
 
He was initially charged with attempted criminal mischief 4th and harassment 2nd.
 
After an investigation, McCracken is further charged with attempted arson 2nd, a class C felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, as a two year old child was inside McCracken’s apartment during the incident.
 
McCracken had refused to answer both his phone and the door to communicate with officers. Out of concern for the child, Officer’s forced entry into the apartment and McCracken was taken into custody without incident and the child was found unharmed and was turned over to the mother.
 
Today, a Genesee County Grand Jury indicted McCracken on the charges of attempted arson 2nd and endangering the welfare of child in the December 24, 2016 incident.
 
McCracken is currently in the Genesee County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond bail.
