STATE POLICE/ Warsaw/ Medical call leads to arrest in hit and run incident

The NYSP are investigating a hit and run collision from Friday January 27, 2017 at 11:50 a.m on State Route 354.  The suspect vehicle, a black Hyundai Accent between the model years of 2007 and 2011, was traveling eastbound when it went off the road in the Hamlet of Cowlesville (T/Bennington, Wyoming Co.).  The vehicle struck a mailbox, then a red GMC Sierra pickup truck before coming to rest against a tree.  The Hyundai fled the scene eastbound with extensive damage to the front end.

**On February 17, 2017, Troopers responded to a medical call at Halstead Road in the Town of Batavia.  While at the scene Troopers noticed a black Hyundai Accent with front end damage similar to the information released by the NYSP on February 7th.  Troopers inquired about the damage which lead to further investigation.  Evidence from the scene was used to match the vehicle in question.
The operator at the time of the hit and run, Nicholas Price, 29 of Batavia, NY was arrested on February 24th, charged with Criminal Mischief 4th, VTL leaving scene of property damage accident, reckless driving, moved from lane unsafely and drove across hazard markings.

Price is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bennington Court in March 2017.
