GENESEE AND ORLEANS COUNTIES/Saying goodbye to a man who lived his dreams

Saturday morning the United States Army Veteran, retired City of Batavia Fireman, 50 year Volunteer Fireman, creator of a fire and burn prevention program, volunteer youth counselor and founder of the Medina Railroad Museum was remembered by family, friends and the community during a funeral mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Parish.

Phelps’ funeral procession made one last drive by at the City of Batavia Fire Department where on duty officers stood saluting him as he passed by on the back of an East Pembroke Fire truck.

Several businesses recognized Phelps with signs around the City of Batavia .

His family says he will remembered as a loving caring father and grandfather and his legacy will live on through his family and the Medina Railroad Museum.

Phelps will be laid to rest at the future Veterans Cemetery in East Pembroke.
