Careless smoking is the cause if a house fire that caused $65,000 in damages to a home at 10 Ribaud Avenue in the Village of Silver Springs on Sunday morning.
Five fire companies responded to the home about 4:35a.m.
One occupant of the home, owned by Myra Broman, suffered burns and was treated at the scene. Barry Schell was also a resident there.
Both Broman and Schell are being assisted by the Red Cross and will be staying with family members.
Fire crews from Silver Springs, Castile, Perry, Gainesville and Warsaw were on scene for about 5 hours.
