BATAVIA/East avenue man facing drug charges after traffic stop

The Genesee County Local Drug Task Force and uniformed officers arrested a Batavia man after a traffic stop on Tuesday night.

Abdullah H. Shareef, 36, of East Ave., Batavia, is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, a class B felony, unlawful possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband 2nd after officers stopped a vehicle he was in.

Shareef was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana during the traffic stop.

Once at the Genesee County Jail, Shareef was allegedly found to be in possession of additional quantity of cocaine and marijuana.

He was arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court and jailed without bail.

Uniformed members of the City of Batavia Police Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office assisted Task Force members with the arrest.
