LeRoy man allegedly found with drugs during traffic stop in York

On June 17, 2017, at around 3:29 a.m., State Police from SP Geneseo stopped a Chevrolet Equinox for having no plate lamps and driving 56 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone on Route 63, town of York. 

One of the passengers was identified as Benjamin P. Hilton, 28, from the village of Leroy.  During the stop, the odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle.  Further investigation revealed that Hilton was in possession of two marijuana cigarettes and two glassine baggies containing cocaine.  The baggies contained a total of approximately 1.5 grams of cocaine. 

Hilton was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree and unlawful possession of marijuana. 

He was arraigned in the Caledonia Town Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. 

Hilton is scheduled to appear in the York Town Court on June 26, 2017.
