STATE POLICE REPORT/Warsaw/After reports of a loud bang and screaming, troopers respond to 9-1-1 call in Bennington

PRESS RELEASE

On August 6, 2017 at 4:37a.m., Troopers arrested Matthew J. Wesolowski, 23, of Cowlesville, NY, for driving while impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers responded to a 9-1-1 call of someone screaming and a loud bang on Church Road in the Town of Bennington.

Upon arrival, a vehicle was located in the ditch.

The operator of the vehicle, Wesolowski, appeared to be under the influence of drugs. A small bag of marijuana was located in the vehicle.

Wesolowski underwent field sobriety tests and failed.

He was taken to State Police/ Warsaw for processing.

A Wyoming County Drug Recognition Expert was contacted and evaluation was conducted.

Wesolowski is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Bennington court on August 14, 2017.


On August 8, 2017 at 8:35a.m., Troopers arrested Kevin M. Johnson, 32, of Gainesville, NY.

Johnson was arrested for DWI, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08% or more alcohol, along with previous a conviction within the past ten years, circumventing interlock device-subject to court order when operating a motor vehicle without such device, aggravated unlicensed operation of vehicle 3rd and a speed violation, exceeding 55 MPH.

Johnson was stopped on Rt. 238 in the Town of Attica for exceeding the speed limit.

While interviewing Johnson, Troopers detected an odor of an intoxicant. Field sobriety tests where conducted and a portable breath screen test was positive.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to State Police in Warsaw for processing.

Johnson was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Attica Court on August 21, 2017.


On August 8, 2017 at 11:09p.m., Troopers arrested Michael S. Slocum, 29, of Silver Springs, NY.

Slocum was arrested for DWI, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08% or more, along with a previous conviction within the past ten years, circumventing and interlock device-subject to court order when operating a motor vehicle without such device, aggravated unlicensed operation of vehicle 1st, drinking alcohol in motor vehicle on highway, moving from a lane unsafely and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Wethersfield Road in the Town of Gainesville, NY.

The operator of the vehicle, Slocum, appeared to be intoxicated and had a small bag of marijuana. He underwent field sobriety tests and failed. 

Slocum was taken to State Police/Warsaw for processing.

Slocum’s breath test resulted in a .17% BAC.

He was arraigned and remanded to Wyoming County Jail on $1,000 cash and $2,000 bond.
