Matthew Ciapa, 22, of South Wales, was arrested following a suspicious vehicle complaint on Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon on August 26, 2017 at 3:00 a.m.
Deputies responded to a call of a possible motor vehicle accident with a male subject passed out in the vehicle. Ciapa was located behind the wheel of a running vehicle, parked in the complainant’s driveway. The complainant did not know Ciapa.
Ciapa failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI. Ciapa submitted to a breath test which showed his BAC to be above the legal limit. Ciapa is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC above .08%.
He was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in Sheldon Town Court at a later date.
