GENESEE COUNTY/ No charges in accidental shooting in Pavilion

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental gunshot wound which was reported Sunday at 6:56p.m. by a 41 year Town of Pavilion resident.

The victim told officers he was hunting a the time of the incident. He was treated at a Rochester area hospital for an upper arm wound which was determined to be non life threatening.

NYS Environmental Conservation Officers and Investigators, who normally investigate hunting accidents also responded to the scene. Through their investigation, it was determined that the round probably came from a group of individuals that had been target shooting about 500 yards away.

Four individuals were interviewed and no charges have been placed at this time.

The investigation was turned over to the the Sheriff’s Office when it was determined that the shooter was not hunting at the time.

The investigation is ongoing.
