GENESEE COUNTY/ Alexander/ Community rallies behind teen at Inventor’s Fair Friday evening

An Inventor’s Fair was held on Friday night at Alexander High School to encourage the community to rally behind 14 year old Andrew Young Jr. after it was announced on Monday that he is one of five finalist in a nationwide invention contest sponsored by Frito-Lay.

Last March, Andrew decided to enter the contest after hearing about it on the TV show “Ellen”.

When Andrew started to receive calls from a man in Texas, Andrew’s parents, Andrew and Denise Young wondered what was going on.

Andrew did not tell his parents about his “Toaster Shooter” invention he had drawn up at his grandmother’s house after an incident where she burned herself making toast.

He submitted it and never thought he would be chosen as a finalist.

Andrew is in the running for a $250,000 prize.

The finalist who receives the most votes by November 27, 2017 will be the winner.

You are allowed to vote once per day and if you follow the link to Andrew’s page you can cast a vote right now. https://www.andrewsinvention.com/
