GENESEE COUNTY/Batavia man jailed after threatening people inside an Elba residence with a large kitchen knife

UPDATED INFORMATION FROM PRESS RELEASE:

At 1:30 this morning, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call concerning an alleged intoxicated subject who reportedly entered a residence in the Village of Elba while in possession of a knife.

Adam J. Gill, 29, of East Main street, Batavia, displayed a knife after entering the residence. After a brief encounter with occupants inside the residence, Gill was allegedly disarmed and then he left the residence without further incident.

A short time later, Gill, who was operating a vehicle, was located by Sheriff’s Patrol and taken into custody for DWI.

The individuals inside the residence were known to Gill and there were no injuries sustained by any of the involved subjects.

He is charged with two counts of burglary 2nd and one count of menacing 2nd , and after being arraigned in Elba Town Court he was jailed in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $1000,000 bond.

Gill was issued tickets for the DWI charges and will answer those in City Court on December 20, 2017 at 9:00a.m.

On November 7, 2017, a Batavia man was arrested after his vehicle was stopped on Oak street following an incident at a residence in Elba about 1:30 this morning.

Adam J. Gill, 29, of East Main street, Batavia, allegedly entered a residence on Church street in Elba and threatened the residents there with a large kitchen knife.

Gill is charged with two counts of burglary 2nd, a class C felony, and menacing 2nd after appearing in the Town of Elba Court for arraignment.

He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Gill is also charged with DWI after the traffic stop on Oak street in the City of Batavia..

The incident is being investigated by Deputy Jeremy McClellan, Sgt. John Baiocco and Investigator Joseph Graff.
