BATAVIA/Former Corfu Court Clerk who stole money while on the job charged with DWI

Brandi A. Watts, 37, of Indian Falls Rd., Corfu, is charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, inadequate stop lamp and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop at 9 Washington avenue on January 21, 2018 at 2:42p.m.

After a brief investigation by Deputy Richard Schildwaster, it is alleged that Watts was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol and had a BAC greater than .18% .

Watts was processed at the Genesee County Jail and released on appearance tickets. She will appear in the City of Batavia Court on February 21, 2018 at 9:00a.m.

Watts admitted to making false entries to steal money while working as her father’s Court Clerk in the Village of Corfu. She stole more than $10,000 while on the job. In October of 2013 she pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with government records, a class D felony.

In January of 2014, as part of a plea agreement, Watts avoided jail time at sentencing and was released on interim probation if she stayed out of trouble for 11 months
