WYOMING COUNTY/Perry/Passer-by treated for smoke inhalation in feed truck fire

A passer-by suffered smoke inhalation after stopping to assist with a feed truck fire at the Fitch Farm at 3840 Slocum road in the Town of Perry on Sunday afternoon.

The passer-by was transported to WCCH, treated and released.

Fire crews were called to the scene about 5:10p.m. for a reported barn fire. The call went to a second alarm.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they located a feed truck parked inside a barn that had caught fire after a malfunction in the engine compartment. The feed truck was destroyed in the fire and there was minor damage to the barn.

Estimated loss of the feed truck is $300,000.

Fire Companies from Perry, Perry Center, Silver Springs , Castile, Leicester and Mt. Morris were on scene for about 3.5 hours. Also assisting on scene was Wyoming County Emergency Services.
