It was a big night for the Batavia Blue Devils boys basketball team, defeating crosstown rival Notre Dame 61-29 to claim the Lions Tournament Championship trophy.
Tee Sean Ayala led the Blue Devils with 19 points, while Antwan Odom had 14 points on the night. Mason McFollins added 8 points and Batavia dominated the game right from the opening tip off.
In the second quarter, the Fighting Irish pulled within 5 points at 14-9, but that is as close as they would get.
Ryan Moffat had 15 points on the night and Jordan Lyons and Brendin Klotzback each had 4 points for the Irish.
With the clock ticking down on the first half, Naz Pratt tossed in a buzzer beater just past half court and Batavia had a 27-13 lead at the half.
Batavia is now 5-2 on the season and Notre Dame’s three game winning streak has ended, the Irish are 3-5 on the season.
