The woman who was struck by the car was transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital with serious injuries from the waist down.

The incident occurred between Caswell road and Rt. 237.

UPDATE: According to a Sheriff’s Dept. press release, the incident was originally reported as a car pedestrian with the vehicle leaving the scene.

When deputies arrived on scene, there was also a car that struck a utility pole off the road. The injured pedestrian was struck by the westbound car on Rt. 33 and thrown into the ditch on the north side of the road. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to Strong by ambulance.
