WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Arcade man accused of selling SNAP cards without any benefits on them

An Arcade man was arrested after an investigation revealed that he was attempting to sell his SNAP (food stamps) benefits.

Gary J. Rupert, 46, was charged with 2 counts of criminal use of a benefit card and 2 counts of petit larceny after an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services.

It is alleged that Rupert would sell his benefit card for cash, but not actually have benefits available on the card at the time.

It is a reminder to all that it is illegal to buy or attempt to buy, sell, steal, or otherwise affect in exchange of SNAP benefits issued.

Rupert is due in Arcade Court on June 15, 2017.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Matthew Wendt, no age provided, of Wyoming St., Warsaw, on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Warsaw Justice Court for failure to appear.

Wendt was taken into custody at his residence on Wyoming Street in the Village of Warsaw and arraigned in front of Justice Errington where he paid part of his fine and was then released on his own recognizance.
