BATAVIA/ Warrant issued for Washington avenue man who allegedly injected a dog and choked a person

Eddie L. Miles Jr., is accused of criminal obstruction of breathing and torturing or injuring an animal after an incident on Lewis Place on July 31, 2017.

Miles Jr. allegedly put his arm around another person’s neck and obstructed their breathing. During the same incident he also used a syringe to inject an unknown purple liquid into a dog.

The dog, a pit bull, has been checked by a veterinarian and is currently with it’s owner who says they rescued the dog two years ago. The current owner of the dog says the pit bull was either Miles Jr’s. dog or his girlfriends previously.

Eddie L. Miles Jr. was scheduled to appear in City Court Wednesday afternoon, but was a no show.

Assistant Public Defender Jamie Welch appeared before Judge Duran Rogers asking for an adjournment in the case saying there must have been a misunderstanding on Miles part about the appearance today.

Judge Rogers disagreed and issued a bench warrant for Miles Jr.’s arrest.

He was jailed on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond bail after the incident.

He was currently out on bail after the initial appearance in front of Judge Robert Balbick on August 1, 2017 where he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

On July 5, 2017, Miles was arrested on a warrant out of City Court for allegedly taking a car belonging to another person without that person’s permission. He is facing the charges of criminal contempt 2nd , grand larceny 4th and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 2nd in that incident which occurred on Washington Avenue on May 18, 2017. He was also scheduled to appear today in City Court for this incident.
