The LeRoy Fire Department responded to 135 Gilbert street, PCORE Electric, and was able to free a man from a piece of machinery he became pinned in while he was attempting to repair it.
The incident occurred at about 10:00a.m. on Thursday morning.
According to LeRoy Fire Chief Tim Hogle, the man fell into a pit and then his leg became trapped in the machinery.
Chief Hogle says during the repair work, the machine lost it’s hydraulic fluid and the worker’s leg became trapped.
“We were able to use Hurst tools, cribbing and rams and get him out of the hole he was in,” says Hogle.
“It was a small tight spot.”
The man, reportedly in his mid 50’s, was trapped for about 35 minutes.
The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown. He was transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital as a precaution according to Hogle.
The victim was an employee of PCORE, who makes graded bushings and components for transformers and oil circuit breakers.
Hogle says the company is looking into the cause of the incident and will contact OSHA about it.
