Family members of victims and survivors along with state and union officials gathered at the front entrance of the Attica Correctional Facility to remember and honor the victims and survivors of the Attica Prison riot that occurred on September 13, 1971.
This is the 46th Anniversary of the incident that claimed the lives of more than 40 people, including corrections officers and prisoners.
The Forgotten Victims of Attica have worked for 17 years to ensure the memorial service on the grounds of the NYS prison in Attica could take place.
Deanne Quinn Miller, whose father William Quinn, a corrections officer, died in the uprising in 1971, says the group is still working on two things, waiting for an apology from NYS and the release of records in regards to the incident.
