A Brockport woman suffered serious injuries in a morning accident in Byron on Thursday.
Dawn Dunlop, 38, of Brockport, was operating a 2012 Toyota Camry in the eastbound direction on Rt. 262 in Byron when her car drifted off the road onto the south shoulder, struck a road sign and a large wooden sign and then a tree.
Dunlop sustained serious injuries, but was conscious when Fire and EMS arrived on scene. It is believed the accident occurred a considerable amount of time before it was actually reported by a passerby.
Crews from the Elba, Byron and S. Byron Fire Departments assisted at the scene and surrounding roads with traffic control.
Mercy EMS also assisted on scene..
Dunlop was transported to Strong Hospital in Rochester by Mercy Flight and is currently in guarded condition.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident and charges are pending.
The accident is being investigated by Dep. Erik Andre, Kevin McCarthy, Sgt. Ron Meides and Inv. James Diehl.
