Brittney L. Ellis, 28, of Hunt, NY, has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following the investigation into a larceny of money in the Town of Warsaw.
Ellis allegedly to entered the office area of a business on State Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on two separate dates, December 17, 2017 and December 18, 2017, and stole over $500.00 cash out of the business’ cash drawer. On December 19, 2017, Ellis allegedly obtained a personal check from a person at the same business in the amount of $1,000.00 after fabricating a story about her wallet and all of her money being stolen. During the course of the investigation, Ellis was also found to unlawfully possess seven hypodermic syringes along with suboxone, a schedule III controlled substance.
Ellis had been told to leave the property after the larcenies were discovered.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate Ellis at 10:33p.m. on December 20, 2017 while she was driving on South Main Street in the Village of Warsaw. Ellis was stopped for several traffic infractions, and she was found to be driving with only a NYS identification card. Ellis also displayed signs of drug use, and following field sobriety testing Ellis was placed under arrest for driving while ability impaired by a drug.
Ellis was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she underwent a drug influence evaluation by a certified Drug Recognition Expert from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Ellis was determined to be impaired by cannabis. Ellis was charged in connection with the traffic stop with driving while ability impaired by a drug, unlicensed operator, uninspected motor vehicle, inadequate tail lamps, and driving across hazard markings. Ellis was issued appearance tickets for those charges.
Regarding the larcenies, Ellis is charged with two counts of burglary 3rd, class D felonies, three counts of petit larceny, and one count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument. Ellis was arraigned in Warsaw Court where she was held in lieu of $15,000.00 cash bail. Ellis is scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court on January 8, 2018 for further proceedings.
