On January 5, 2018, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to Route 63 in the Town of Covington, for a report of a multi-car crash.
The investigation revealed driver Crystal Cardona, 27, of Batavia, attempted to avoid a school bus that was turning onto South St. Rd. In doing so, Cardona missed the bus, but did not observe an oncoming vehicle and the two vehicles collided. Cardona advised she did not observe the oncoming vehicle due to limited visibility from blowing snow. A license check on Cardona revealed that she was operating with a suspended New York State driver’s license.
Cardona was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and issued a uniform traffic ticket.
Two passengers in Cardona’s car, both two years of age, were transported by ambulance to the hospital for minor head injuries.
During the investigation, other unrelated vehicles went into the ditch as well. Route 63 was temporarily closed while all the vehicles were removed.
Cardona is to answer the above charge in Covington Town Court at a later time. Assisting at the scene were New York State Police and Pavilion Fire Department.
Donna F. Wilson, 53, of Perry, was arrested following a one car roll-over accident on Route 246 at Myers Road in the Town of Perry on January 8, 2018.
Wilson was driving her 2007 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on Route 246 when she lost control. Wilson’s vehicle slid off the east side of the roadway and overturned. Wilson and her passenger, along with their dog, were not injured.
Wilson was determined to have been drinking alcohol, and she was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. Wilson was taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office where she was processed.
She is charged with DWI, driving with .08% BAC or higher, speed not reasonable and prudent, and moving from a lane unsafely. Wilson was released to a sober third party and is scheduled to answer the charges on January 24, 2018 in the Town of Perry Court.
