The hum of snow blowers, the scrape of shovels and the beep of the plow filled most WNY neighborhoods on Friday morning.
WNY’s started to dig out after the overnight snowstorm that dumped a knee high amount of the white stuff on the previously green/brown lawns of March 1st.
Overnight, State, County, City and Town plows experienced difficulties in attempting to clear the heavy stuff from area roads.
On Rt. 98 in Alexander, several plows ran into trouble near the four lane and needed assistance in getting out of the roadway after getting stuck. A State DOT plow went off the road and caused a traffic slow down in the area. Several hours later the plow was pulled out of the ditch.
On Rt. 20 in Alexander, several tractor trailers and a plow caused a back up when they became stranded in the roadway unable to move. Heavy snow built up along the roadway and made Rt. 20 impassable.
As the morning went on, conditions improved and the salt worked its magic on the roadways.
The Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 1:00 p.m. today
