Timbit beginners participated in their end of the year “Jamboree” on Saturday morning at the Falleti Ice Rink.
81 beginners are registered for the program and today 75 joined in the fun. They are coached by Jim Kujawski and his assistant coaches Brian McCarthy and Tim Sprague as well as many other dads, moms and family members serving as on-ice helpers.
Without all of this support it would be impossible to run this program, says Sharon Gray, Beginner Player & Parent Coordinator. Bob Gray, Sharon’s husband, oversees the on-ice helpers.
The players have been on the ice since early October through today. During practices, the kids run through drills established by USA Hockey’s American Development Modules – six stations are set up around the rink and a different drill is introduced at each station and the little players move from station to station.
The Genesee Amateur Hockey Association is thankful for the sponsorship of their Beginner Program by the local Tim Horton’s
They provide the jerseys for all of the players as well as Timbit donuts at their special functions throughout the year plus medals at the completion of the program.
- Today, the players were broken down into six teams and played three 20 minute games with shifts of 2 minutes .
