GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Castile man charged after smash and grab theft at business

Robert E. Ratcliffe, 38, of S. Main St., Castile, is charged with burglary 3rd, grand larceny 4h and criminal mischief 3rd after allegedly entering the Batavia Cycle Center, located at 4988 East Main street road, in the overnight hours of May 23, 2017 and May 25, 2017 and stealing a dirt bike.

Ratcliffe smashed a window to gain entry.

He was arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court by Justice Williams and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.

Ratcliffe will re-appear in court on April 10, 2018 at 2:30p.m.

The incident was investigated by Inv. Christopher Parker, assisted by Deputy Chad Cummings, Inv. James Diehl, Chief Deputy Joseph Graff and DEC Officer Richard Rauscher.

 

 

Eric J. Merritt, 28, of Rose Rd., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt 1st after allegedly violating a stay away order of protection by having contact with two protected parties on Rose road on March 17, 2018.

Merritt was processed at the jail and released on an appearance ticket.

He will appear in the Town of Batavia Court on April 16, 2018 at 1:00p.m.
