Eight fire companies from three counties battled a blaze in Pavilion on Sunday night that leveled a shop at 6875 Ellicott street road near River road.
A tenant on the property discovered the fire and contacted the owner of the shop. The initial dispatch was for a four wheeler on fire inside a shop.
When fire crews from Pavilion, LeRoy and Stafford first arrived on scene they found the structure fully involved. They called for a second alarm response, which brought in crews from Bethany, Alexander, York, Perry and Perry Center.
Fire Chief Dewey Murrock says a fire hydrant was located in the front yard and allowed firefighters to first hose down the roof of the home so it did not catch fire as embers from the fire were landing on the roof of the house.
Murrock says flames from the shop fire were 20-30 feet high upon arrival and crews had to fight a defensive fire.
The shop housed tractors, tools, lawn mowers and farm equipment. The structure was a total loss.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
