Bishop Richard Malone celebrated Ascension Parish’s 10 Anniversary Mass along with a celebration of Confirmation and First Holy Communion at Ascension Parish Church on Sumner street on Wednesday evening.
In 2008, St. Anthony’s Church was merged with Sacred Heart Church to become Ascension Parish, this was part of the Buffalo Diocese “Journey In Faith and Grace Program”. In January of 2013, St. Anthony’s closed it’s doors because of the financial difficulties in operating both churches.
On Wednesday evening it was a full house at Ascension Parish.
There were 10 children celebrating their First Holy Communion and 6 teens celebrating their Confirmation.
“Ascension Parish came to be not without great sacrifice and suffering. Along with vision, joy and inspiration, we grow in faith, hope and love,” says Father Dave Glassmire.
