At approximately 2:25 p.m. a vehicle related to this investigation was stopped in the Valu Center Plaza, 4152 West Main Street, Batavia, and a female subject was detained and transported to Police Headquarters for questioning. The female is identified as Jennifer K. Urvizu-Hanlon, age 48, residing in the Town of Batavia. She was later charged with
Criminal Liability for Conduct of Another/Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (2 counts), as she is alleged to have provided the firearm used in the shooting.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. a search warrant was executed at the residence of Jennifer K. Urvizu-Hanlon on West Main Street Road in the Town of Batavia based on information developed during the investigation. During the search two male subjects were located inside the residence, one being the aforementioned person of interest in the shooting incident. Both were detained and taken to Police Headquarters for questioning.
One of those subjects is identified as Samuel R. Blackshear, age 17, of no permanent address. Samuel was identified as the person who shot Nathaniel D. Wilson Jr.. He was charged with;
Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree
Attempted Assault in the 1st degree
Assault in the 2nd Degree
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (2 counts)
Both Blackshear and Urvizu-Hanlon were arraigned in City Court and committed to Genesee County Jail without bail pending future court appearances.
A second search warrant was served on the business of La Mexicana Inc., 4152 West Main Street, Batavia, as this was property controlled and operated by Jennifer K. Urvizu-Hanlon.
Evidence related to the investigation was recovered during the searches.
The City of Batavia Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Orleans County SWAT Team assisted in the search warrants.
