At approximately 11:24 PM Thursday night (May 17) Genesee County 9-1-1 received a call from a citizen who stated there was a possible shooting in the area of Pringle Ave and Central Ave in the City of Batavia. The caller stated there was a male subject down in the area.

Officers arrived on scene and moments later found a male subject laying alongside Central Ave; EMS was summoned immediately. The male subject appeared to be have suffered a stab wound to the chest. He was transported by ambulance to UMMC where he was later pronounced deceased by Genesee County Coroner Coleman. This subject is identified as Terry J. Toote, age 41, LKA West Main St., Batavia.
A second male subject arrived at the ER with a gunshot wound to the leg. He is identified as Nathaniel D. Wilson Jr., age 30, LKA Chestnut St, Batavia.
While being treated at UMMC, investigators developed information that Nathaniel D. Wilson Jr. was the person responsible for stabbing Terry J. Toote. Wilson was treated for his injuries and when released, he was arrested and charged with one count of Murder in the 2nd degree for the stabbing death of Terry Toote.
During the investigation there was a disturbance at UMMC stemming from the family and friends of Wilson and Toote. The hospital initiated a lockdown as a precautionary measure. There were no weapons displayed or threatened. More officers were called to the hospital to deal with the situation, all parties were separated and no charges have been filed for that incident.
