Batavia/City Fire called to rescue fawn stuck in fence

City of Batavia Fire was called to a residence on Union street between Richmond avenue and Oak street for a fawn that had it’s head stuck in a wooden fence.

The fawn’s mother was frantically prancing in the rear of the yard as fire crews arrived on scene to free the fawn.

The homeowner says the backyards in the area are loaded with deer and he has had to put up fencing around his fence so the deer stop eating his plants and bushes.

He says he has approached City Council about the issue in the past, but nothing has been done to address the overpopulation of deer in the area.
