WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/New Jersey resident with license suspended for 20 years jailed after traffic stop

Yahya E. El-Mahdi, 45, of Green Brook, NJ,  was arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Warsaw on May 29, 2018.

El-Mahdi was stopped for a speeding infraction and it was discovered that El-Mahdi’s New York State operating privileges had been suspended since 1998 for failure to answer a traffic ticket out of the Town of Stafford Court in Genesee County.

El-Mahdi is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and speed over 55MPH.

El-Mahdi was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or $2,000.00 bond. El-Mahdi is scheduled to return to the Town of Warsaw Court on June 18, 2018 for further proceedings.

 

On May 27, 2018, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nicholas Kerwin, 18, of N. Java, after a Deputy observed a male subject operating a dirt bike on Main Street at a rate of 68 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. It was also observed that the driver was not wearing a helmet.

The deputy pulled out behind the vehicle and attempted to stop the dirt bike. The driver took off, left the roadway on the dirt bike and after a short pursuit off road, the driver was apprehended.

Kerwin  was advised he had a revoked license. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd, speed in zone, operating without insurance, refusal to comply with a lawful order, operating without a helmet, unregistered motor vehicle and numerous other vehicle and traffic laws.

Kerwin is to answer the charges at a later date in Sheldon Town Court.

 

 

On May 29, 2018, the Wyoming County Sheriffs were running stationary radar on Route 78 in Strykersville when Deputies observed a vehicle with an equipment violation.

After a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, it was found that the driver, Michael Gamble, 32, of Buffalo, was operating on a suspended New York driver’s license.

Gamble is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd and released on his own recognizance. Gamble is to return to court on June 4, 2018.
