ATTICA POLICE REPORT/Woman punched in the face and then hit in the head at a party on Washington street

On June 9, 2018 at about 6:45 p.m., Officers of the Attica Police Department responded to a loud music complaint at 51 Washington Street.

After resolving the loud music complaint, Officers received a report from Wyoming County Community Hospital of a female victim of an assault was being treated in the Emergency Department. The victim, initially falsely reported the location and suspects in the assault, however, through investigation it was determined the assault occurred at a party where the initial loud music complaint originated, 51 Washington Street.

With an uncooperative victim with significant injuries, Officers were able to determine that Nathan T. Hopkins, 27 of Capwell Rd., Attica, allegedly punched the female victim in the face then struck her in the head with a wooden object.

Hopkins had fled the scene, but was located at about 1:00 a.m. in Silver Springs at the victim’s  residence by the Wyoming County Sheriff Office. He was taken into custody without incident on an arrest warrant.

Hopkins was returned to the Village of Attica and arraigned in Attica Village Court on the charges of assault 2nd and assault 3rd . Village of Attica Justice Perry issued a “refrain from” order of protection on behalf of the victim.

Bail was set at $2,500.00 cash, $5,000.00 bond. Hopkins was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail. His next court appearance is set for Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.

 

Katelyn C. Kubala, 28, of Meadow Lane, Attica, was found to be in violation of requirements to register as a sex offender, per New York State Corrections law.

Kubala was designated as a Level 1 sex offender after a 2013 conviction of attempted rape 3rd plea bargain.

Kubala was initially charged in 2012 with rape 3rd after having a sexual relationship with a minor.

After an investigation by Officer Murray of the Attica Police Department, it was found that Kubala had never registered her address as required by law since 2015. Kubala was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in Attica Village Court before Justice Perry.

At the arraignment, due to her multiple felony convictions and lengthily criminal history, Justice Perry remanded Kubala to Wyoming County Jail without bail.

Kubala is set to reappear in Attica Village Justice Court on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
