BATAVIA/Odom charged in stabbing on Ross street

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, the Batavia Police Department responded to the area of 153 Ross St. for the report of a physical altercation which resulted in a subject being stabbed. Officers responded and located the victim, Raymond L. Leach inside his residence with multiple lacerations from a cutting object. Leach identified the suspect as his neighbor and classmate, Antwan Odom. Leach indicated the altercation came after Leach accused Odom of stealing personal property. Leach was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Leach was released a short while later after receiving treatment.

The suspect, Antwan L. Odom had fled the scene prior to our Officers arrival. Upon learning the identification of the suspect, citizens at the scene directed Officers to Odom’s residence. Multiple young children and other family members were present inside the residence. All occupants were safely evacuated, and Odom was taken into custody without incident. Odom was transported to UMMC for medical treatment.

Odom is charged with attempted assault 1st , a  class B felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th , class A misdemeanor.
Odom was arraigned in Batavia City Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail. Odom is scheduled to appear in Batavia City Court at a later date.
