Leroy, NY – On August 2, 2018 at approximately 11:24 p.m., State Police attempted to initiated a traffic stop of a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle on I-90, in the town of Leroy for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. The driver, who was later identified as, Darnel J. Tillmon, age 35, of Rochester, NY, failed to comply and fled the area at a high rate of speed. Troopers followed the motorcycle and attempted to apprehended Tillmon when he stopped at the Leroy interchange. As the Trooper was attempting to effect a lawful arrest of Tillmon he accelerated his motorcycle with both men still on the bike, but crashed after a short distance. A brief struggle ensued and Tillmon fled on foot into a wooded area. A subsequent search of the area yielded negative results.
On August 3, 2018 at approximately 2:15 p.m. after a lengthy investigation State Police arrested Tillmon without further incident. He was transported, and processed at SP Henrietta, and subsequently charged with:
Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree; a Class D Felony
Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest; a Class A Misdemeanor
Assault 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Tillmon was arraigned in the town of Stafford Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. No return court date available at this time. A State Trooper was treated at a local hospital for non-life threating injuries.
