GENESEE COUNTY/LeRoy Cub Scout knows just what to do in emergencies

11 year old Steven Sanders is already a hero after saving his 3 year old brother Troy after he started to choke on a whole egg this past April while the two were watching cartoons. Steven knew to pound Troy in the middle of his back to dislodge the egg and stop him from choking. After the egg came out onto the floor, Steven went on playing  like nothing happened.

In June, pack 6023 recognized Steven for his life saving efforts. He has been involved in scouting for 2 years.

While he was at his Aunt’s house in Stafford this morning, Steven found his Great Grandma passed out on the floor in the bathroom after he and his Aunt Tiffany heard a strange sound.

Steven did not panic.

While his Aunt and Grandmother attended to Great Grandma on the floor, Steven called 9-1-1 for help.

“Steven stayed calm during the process and told them what was going on as his Aunt and his Grandmother lifted Great Grandma off the floor and into a chair, when EMS arrived Great Grandma had a seizure,” says Emily Sanders, Steven’s mother.

Tonight Great Grandma Barb Wilson is home and did not suffer any head trauma after passing out on the bathroom floor.

Emily Sanders got home from work late this afternoon and could not believe her son again came to the rescue in a calm manner.

“He’s such an amazing little hero.”

This evening Steven’s family brought him to the store to pick out a prize after his heroic actions this morning.
