Two people were arrested following a traffic stop on Route 20A in the Town of Perry on September 22, 2018.
During a special aggressive driving enforcement grant, Heidi M. Werner, 54, of Staten Island, NY, was stopped for speeding at a rate of 58MPH in a 40MPH zone, 69MPH in a 55MPH zone, failure to maintain her lane, and inadequate brake lamps.
During the traffic stop, Werner was found to have a rear seat passenger who was seated on a lawn chair which was not secured to the vehicle and had no seatbelt. Multiple bags of marijuana, along with paraphernalia, and open containers of alcohol were seized from within the vehicle. Werner failed roadside field sobriety testing and was taken into custody. A Drug Recognition Expert from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office performed a drug influence evaluation on Werner and it was determined that she was impaired by cannabis.
Werner is charged with DWAI/Drugs, speed in a zone, speed over 55MPH, inadequate brake lamps, moving from a lane unsafely, and no seatbelt for rear seat passenger. Werner was arraigned in Perry Town Court where bail was set at $1,000.00 cash bail or $2,000.00 bond. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Perry Court on October 10, 2018 for further proceedings.
Ronald C. Peteroy, Jr.,42, of Staten Island, NY, the front seat passenger, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Peteroy is scheduled to answer the charges in the Town of Perry Court on October 17, 2018.
On September 21, 2018, the Town of Castile Court issued an arrest warrant for Christopher L. Vasile, no age or address provided, for the charge of Violation of Probation.
Vasile was currently on interim probation for a conviction of aggravated driving while intoxicated – .18% BAC or Higher.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by New York State Police, located and arrested Vasile at his residence in the Town of Gainesville on September 22, 2018.
Vasile was arraigned in the Town of Perry Court where bail was set in the amount of $2,500.00 cash bail or $5,000.00 bond. Vasile is scheduled to return to the Town of Castile Court on October 1, 2018 for further proceedings.
