In the month of September, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department 911 Dispatch Center processed 2050 police incidents, including 775 events for Sheriff’s Road Patrol, 183 for the New York State Police and 1092 calls for the Village Police agencies of Lyndonville, Medina, Albion, and Holley. There were 495 Fire/EMS related calls dispatched countywide with 389 of those emergency medical in nature and a total of 4 drug overdoses.
Sheriff’s Dept. Road Patrol Deputies handled 34 automobile accidents, including 9 with injury and 10 car-deer collisions. Road patrol, also, made 78 service attempts and successfully served 31 subpoenas, civil, or court papers. The Marine Patrol handled 10 calls for service including boaters in distress, reckless operation, and marine vessel inspections on Lake Ontario, Lake Alice, as well as the Erie Canal.
The month of September marked the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year and the Sheriff’s Department reached an agreement with both Lyndonville and Kendall School Districts for having a full time Deputy assigned to each of the districts, respectively, as School Resource Officers.
The Orleans County Jail processed in 94 inmates and handled 42 prisoner transports to court appearances.
The Sheriff’s Animal Control Division handled 81 incidents including 16 stray dogs, 4 dog bite complaints, 18 neighbor dog problems, and several other miscellaneous animal calls. In addition, 7 animals were taken in to shelter on voluntary surrenders.
