BATAVIA/Burglary suspects taken into custody at gunpoint

Genesee County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Chris Parker identified a vehicle that was wanted in connection with several burglaries in Genesee County on Washington avenue a little before 5pm on Thursday.

After following the vehicle, the suspect vehicle turned into a driveway at 317 Washington avenue. According to the Sheriff’s Department, a .22 caliber semi automatic pistol was then thrown from the vehicle.

The two suspects inside the vehicle, a 19 year old and a 14 year old, who are brothers, were taken into custody at gunpoint.

Neither subject attempted to run from police and the gun thrown out the window was not pointed at anyone.

According to Sgt. Andrew Hale, both subjects were taken to the Sheriff’s office for questioning.

The gun was also recovered.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages and no other information will be released at this time.
