The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Albion men following a home invasion- robbery that occurred in the Town of Yates during the early morning hours of November 13th, 2018.

Orleans County Undersheriff Christopher M. Bourke reports that at approximately 5:30 a.m., a masked man allegedly entered a home on Lake Shore Road in the Town of Yates brandishing what appeared to be an AK-47 Rifle. The suspect, Dominic R. DeCarlo, age 22, of Albion, N.Y., allegedly demanded money, cell phone and drugs from the victim. DeCarlo then reportedly left the residence with an X-Box, PlayStation4, an Alexa, a TV with cables along with some marijuana and cash.
Further investigation revealed that DeCarlo was allegedly acting in consort with another suspect, Spencer T. Freeman, age 20, of Albion, N.Y., to perpetrate this crime in an attempt to retaliate an for incident that occurred recently. The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Freeman’s home on Phipps Road in the Town of Albion.
A quantity marijuana, 38 dosage units of Xanax bars, U.S Currency, Counterfeit U.S. currency and firearms were recovered.
The investigation continued with the Sheriff’s Office obtaining several statements and confessions which resulted in locating and recovering the stolen property along with an “Air-Soft” AK-47 replica, (modified to appear authentic), that allegedly was used in the robbery.
DeCarlo is charged with robbery in the second degree (displayed firearm), grand larceny 4th degree and burglary in the 2nd degree. DeCarlo was arraigned by Albion Town Justice Fuller and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $50,000 bail.
Freeman is charged with criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree, conspiracy 4th degree, tampering with physical evidence with intent to conceal, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Freeman was arraigned by Town of Albion Justice Fuller and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $25,000 bail. Orleans County Sheriff’s Office C.I.D. is continuing the investigation with additional arrests likely.
