Councilman Robert Mattice served in his last meeting as Stafford Councilman on November 12th. He will now become a Stafford Town Justice in January of 2019 after a month of training. Mattice will fill the seat of Town Court Justice Brenda Mancuso who will be retiring. Mattice had about 3 years left in his term as councilman. He just recently retired from Genesee County Jail where he was a Senior Corrections Officer. Mattice will now work alongside Justice Robert Penepent in Stafford Town Court.
The Republican Committee recommended appointing James Duyssen to fill in at Councilman for Mattice until November 2019, at which time he will have to run for re-election. The Stafford Town board approved the motion to appoint Duyssen to fill in by a vote of 4-0 on November 12, 2018.
Duyssen operates a trucking business on Wescott road in Stafford hauling produce, hay and farm supplies.
In November of 2019, there will be three openings on the Stafford Town Board. Robert Pacer, Donald Mullen and the unexpired term of Robert Mattice.
According to Councilman Ronald Panek, whoever gets the highest vote count gets the four year term and whoever gets the lowest vote count gets the unexpired term of Mattice, which is 3 years.
