The search for 71 year old Robert Arnett of Oak Orchard road, Barre continued on Saturday afternoon and will continue into Sunday morning.
Arnett was reported missing at about 10:15pm on Friday night from his home on Quaker Hill road in the Town of Barre. He was last seen by his family about 7:00p.m. after he left the house to look for a cat that had run outside.
Arnett is wearing a navy t-shirt, light jean jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. He is 5’11” with gray hair and gray facial hair and has brown eyes.
Search crews from the Barre and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office along with NYS Police, Albion Police, Niagara County Sheriffs, DEC and most of the volunteer fire departments in Orleans County and Elba Fire from Genesee County assisted in the search.
At 3:30a.m. Saturday, the search was put on hold due to poor weather conditions. About 8:30a.m. the search resumed.
As of 5:00p.m. the command center at the Barre Fire hall will break down until Sunday morning when there will be a briefing at 7:30a.m.
After the all day search there are no new leads on the whereabouts of Arnett who has been known to do this type of thing quite a bit.
“Its an ongoing problem with the family,” says Undersheriff Christopher Bourke.
“Sometimes he tends to take walks and does not want to be found, other times he will return, so something last night caused him to not return, whether it was weather related or a medical incident or got lost in the dark, its unknown and we are working on it to use all of our assets to try and locate this gentleman safely.”
Anyone who may have seen Arnett or has had contact with him can contact the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office at 585-589-5527.
