The Zonta Club of Batavia Genesee County is getting ready for their biggest fundraising event on Saturday March 9, 2019, the Lucky Numbers Luncheon will be held at Batavia Downs at 10:30a.m.
The monies raised at this event will go towards scholarships created for graduating female seniors from Genesee County high schools.
Eight recipients will be chosen from the applications submitted. Students have until March 11, 2019 to submit applications, which can be found with school guidance counselors.
The Zonta Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held at Dibble’s Family Center on May 15th at 6:00p.m., and award recipients and their families are invited to the dinner.
The group has been working on putting together about 150 gift baskets for the Lucky Numbers Luncheon and have been provided an available space to work on the baskets at Grandstands Restaurant at Batavia Downs.
“The Downs was gracious enough to allow us the use their facility,” says Heather Parker, Scholarship Committee Chairperson for Zonta.
“We used to do this out of our member’s homes and this works out great for transportation purposes, we are taking them from here to downstairs.”
Parker says the group is able to store the baskets at the Downs also.
“We have a great relationship. They’re helping out with many projects here with us,” says Henry Wojtaszek, President/CEO of Batavia Downs Gaming/WROTBC.
“Anything we can do to help them moving forward, we want to help them, with this process for this event and with other events as well.”
