UPDATE:
According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the 2014 Chevy Cruz was being operated by Rodney L. Harmon Jr., of Elba. The passenger was identified as Josette M. Harmon, also from Elba. The vehicle was traveling south on RT. 98 when the two occupants allegedly got into a domestic altercation. The vehicle then crossed over the center line and went off the roadway about 200 feet before striking a vacant house owned by Offhaus Farms. Rodney was transported to Strong Hospital for a full medical evaluation. Josette was first transported to UMMC, but then due to the nature of her injuries was also transported to Strong Hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation with possible charges pending.
A vehicle traveling on Rt. 98 left the roadway and struck a house for some unknown reason. The incident occurred just north of West Saile drive across from Offhaus farms.
According to Town of Batavia Fire Chief Dan Coffey, two occupants of the vehicle were assisted out of the vehicle by witnesses on scene and law enforcement. No extrication was needed.
Coffey says the occupants appeared to be in their 30s or 40s and were not seriously injured. They were being evaluated by EMS personnel in the ambulances on scene.
The house was not occupied and is a vacant property.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident.
