A Genesee County Grand Jury indicted James A. Chase, 39, of Batavia, accusing him of three counts of failing to register a change of address, class D felonies, after failing to register internet accounts, such as email, using Gmail, social media, using Facebook and using the internet with internet access via Boost Mobile.
Being a convicted level 3 sex offender, Chase is required to register the changes to these accounts with the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services within 10 days. Chase allegedly failed to register these accounts in January 2019.
He was previously convicted of failing to register/verify a change of address, as a class A misdemeanor, in August of 2005 in the City of Batavia. In the Town of Oakfield, Chase was convicted of failure to register a change of address as a class D felony in September of 2005. In March of 2015, he was convicted of failure to register/verify change of address as a class E felony in County Court.
Chase was convicted of sodomy 1st degree, a class B felony, in February of 1999 for sexually assaulting two boys, one who was 16, the other 13 in April of 1997. He was sentenced to 3-6 years in State Prison and is required to register for a lifetime as a level 3 sex offender.
Chase was being held on a parole violation in Genesee County Jail at the time of his arrest on Feb. 4. He was arraigned then jailed without bail.
Jacob J. Camerera is accused of the crime of criminal possession of stolen property 4th, a class E felony. On November 19, 2018, in the City of Batavia, Camerera knowingly possessed stolen property with intent to benefit himself or a person other than an owner therof, the property consisted of one or more firearms, rifles or shotguns, a Marlin .22 caliber model 60 rifle.
