BATAVIA/Chestnut street man jailed without bail after choking a female

Robert R. Gerety, 45, of Chestnut St., Batavia, is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal contempt 1st, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear after an investigation into a choking incident on Chestnut street on April 18, 2019 at 9:28p.m.

Gerety allegedly grabbed a female acquaintance by the neck in violation of an order of protection, He was arraigned in City Court and was held without bail and will re-appear in Court on May 9, 2019.

Gerety was also charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia as he was allegedly found to be in possession of a crack pipe after also being arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on vehicle and traffic charges. On the drug charge he was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on April 30, 2019. On the failure to appear charge he was jailed on $1,000 bail and will appear in court on May 9, 2019.
