GENESEE COUNTY/ Darien man charged after making a drive up inquiry at a Sheriff’s deputy vehicle

John R. Benton, 61, of Colby Rd., Darien, is charged with felony DWI/previous conviction, felony driving with a BAC of .08% or more/prior conviction within 10 years, and failure to keep right after he allegedly drove up to a Sheriff’s deputy and made an inquiry.

Benton then immediately drove off.

The deputy suspected that Benton may have been intoxicated and after observing him unable to maintain his lane of travel, the deputy conducted a traffic stop on Tinkham road in Darien on April 21, 2019 at 1:39p.m.

After a brief investigation, it is alleged that Benton was intoxicated and was transported to the jail for processing. He was issued an appearance tickets and will appear in Darien Town Court on May 7, 2019 at 4:00p.m.
