A line of vehicles spilled out onto RT. 77 in Darien as parkgoers patiently waited for the gates of Six Flags Darien Lake to officially open the 2019 season .
President Chris Thorpe opened the park at the turnstiles and welcomed the crowd at about 10:30am Saturday.
The park was purchased by Six Flags in June of last year and the company has rebranded the park for 2019.
New this year is the Sky Screamer, which will take you from the ground in a chained seat, up 242 feet and then run you around in a circle, complete with a view of the whole area. The Sky Screamer will officially open May 18, 2019.
Also there is a new membership program that allows you to visit not only Six Flags Darien Lake but all Six Flags parks around the country.
