Batavia, New York, June 19, 2019 – At its June 18 board meeting, the Batavia City School District’s Board of Education appointed Scott Bischoping as the Interim Superintendent effective July 1, 2019 until January 1, 2020. Bischoping replaces Christopher Dailey who recently announced his resignation to accept a position as Superintendent of Schools for the Gates Chili Central School District.
Patrick Burk, Batavia City School District’s Board President, stated, “The Board is duly impressed with Scott Bischoping’s background and experience. We are confident that Scott will guide our district through these next six months as we begin our formal search process for a Superintendent of Schools.”
Bischoping has a broad scope of experience, including most recently, as the Deputy Superintendent of Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. As Deputy Superintendent, he reports to the District Superintendent and functions in an advisory role as he provides leadership, direction, and general supervision for all BOCES Instructional programs. He also serves on behalf of the District Superintendent in her absence. He holds a certificate of Advanced Study in Education Administration; a Master of Science; a Certificate in Business and Distributive Education; and a Bachelor of Science. Bischoping began his career in education in 1988 as a business education teacher in the Livonia Central School District.
“I am extremely honored to have been asked by the Batavia City School District’s Board of Education to provide leadership and support during the upcoming transition,” said Bischoping.
Kevin MacDonald, District Superintendent of the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership, assisted with the interim search and will also act as the final search consultant. He noted that the Board will develop and implement a rigorous process that will help determine the best candidate.
