Lisa Lyons, 42, of Alexander Rd., Attica, has resigned her position as Alexander Town Clerk and will not seek any other endorsements after her appearance in Batavia City Court last week.
Lyons subscribed as a witness to a petition for the designation of herself as the Republican candidate for the upcoming Town Clerk of Alexander position.
The incident occurred on April 1, 2019.
Lyons did not witness all signatures of the filed petition, thereby making a false statement or affidavit.
According to First Assistant District Attorney Melissa Cianfrini, Lyons’ case has been adjourned in contemplation of dismissal and after 6 months the file will be sealed if Lyons does not engage in additional criminal conduct or other acts prohibited by the court as a condition of the ACD.
She will also complete 50 hrs. of community service.
The investigation revealed that all the signatures were legal and there were no forged signatures. The issue was that Lyons left the list of signature at a location and was not there to witness who signed the petition.
Lyons name will appear on the ballot. If re-elected she will resign again, according to Cianfrini.
